FDH Bank has unveiled a fully refurbished and furnished Paediatric Intensive Care Ward at Malamulo Adventist Hospital in Makwasa, Thyolo.

FDH Financial Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira said the donation was part of the financial institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

“I was shocked last year when I visited the hospital and found this ward in tatters, not worth calling an ICU for children.  I was moved to support the hospital. This refurbished and equipped ward is truly a heartfelt gift from FDH Bank to Malamulo Adventist Hospital and the children of Malawi,” Dr. Mpinganjira said.

He added that there is no call greater than the call to help and support the health of children as children are the future.

Malamulo Adventist Hospital CEO, Jason Blanchard said the ward was beautiful not because of the paintings but because of the lives it will save.

Medical Director at the hospital, Dr. Wilson Thomas said the equipment donated will make a big difference.

“We had a lot of challenges. Children with pneumonia or problems with their lungs had trouble breathing without oxygen concentrators. These will definitely save lives,” Dr. Thomas explained.
