Tycoon Thomson Mpinganjira inspires marketers

Business Tycoon, Thomson Mpinganjira recently delivered a powerful motivational talk during the 2018 Marketers Annual Conference which left marketers believing they, too, can do it.

Mpinganjira, the first and only indigenous Malawian to own a bank, shared how he has passed through various challenges over the years to emerge among the finest business people in the country.

Standing in front of over 250 marketers, who included students from the Malawi College of Accountancy, The Polytechnic and Catholic University, Mpinganjira gave a crystal clear message—“never give up”.

FDH, Ministry of Gender partner in e-payment solutions

Financial services provider FDH Bank has entered into a four year partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare to provide e-payment services through which the bank will make monthly payments to beneficiaries at its 93 pay points across Ntcheu district.

The project aims at reaching out to the ultra-poor and labour constrained households and providing them with financial support to improve their livelihood. FDH Bank managing director for Eric Ouatarra speaking at Hope Orphanage Group in Chipasule Village in Ntcheu where the bank unveiled the programme said the bank priorities financial inclusion hence the implementing the Social Cash Transfer programme.

FDH Bank launches Ufulu Digital Account in style 

The fastest growing commercial back in Malawi, FDH Bank launched Ufulu Digital Account during Tay Grin’s show at Chichiri Upper Stadium, in Blantyre.

Speaking during the launch, FDH Bank Head of Marketing, Levie Nkunika said Ufulu Digital Account will allow more people to be financially included.

Nkunika said this product is open to all people in the country and not only those that belong to FDH Bank.

“FDH Bank prides itself as a digital bank and aims at providing financial solutions that meet the needs of people not only in Malawi but in the region.

“With our Digital products and a footprint of 53 branches and over 96 ATMs accross the country, we championing financial inclusion by making sure all can access banking services.

“We also have FDH Pakhomo, a product on FDH mobile that allows agents at various locations in the country to provide the masses with banking services right in their communities,” said Nkunika.

FDH splashes out prizes in Digi Save Promotion

FDH Bank says it will continue coming up with innovative products that appeal to existing and potential customers of the bank.

Head of Personal and Business Banking at the bank, Kawawa Msapato disclosed this in Blantyre when the bank conducted a monthly draw for its mobile and savings promotion known as Digi Save.

Addressing the presss Msapato said the promotion seeks to encourage the culture of saving in the country and to promote modern technology of digital banking where customers can transact via mobile phones.

Institute of Bankers in Malawi says it is in agreement with the drive by Reserve Bank of Malawi to enhance financial literacy and inclusion to the populace in the country.

Chief Executive Officer for the Institution, Lyness Nkungulu, said this in Blantyre when her organization received K3 million from FDH Bank to support logistical arrangements for its forthcoming annual conference. She said banks should reciprocate what the Central Bank is advocating so that the gap of the unbanked should be narrowed.

“Our deepest gratitude goes to FDH bank, it’s not easy to part with such an amount in these hard times, it demonstrates the commitment of the bank to strengthen our institution as it plays a critical role in regulating the banking sector. Let me also take this opportunity, to urge commercial banks in the country to pursue financial literacy and inclusion programs as advocated by the Central Bank.

Scores of fun lovers on Malawi's Independence Day registered on the newly launched Ufulu Digital Account during a Marketing Activation at Ufulu Festival in Lilongwe.

Speaking to Newsline, FDH Financial Holdings Public Relations Officer Lorraine Lusinje said the digital product has so far received a massive response from the masses including at the festival.

Launched a few weeks ago, Ufulu Digital Account allows more people in both rural and urban areas to be financially included.

Tell us more about the Ufulu Digital Account?

Well, the Ufulu Digital Account is another first on the market and will change the way banking is viewed and done in Malawi forever. Ufulu Digital Account is a virtual account, created by the customers themselves using USSD or the FDH Mobile Smart Application. This is ideal for the banked and the unbanked alike. The account number for a digital account is denoted by the number of the phone used to register the account.

FDH Bank launches Digi-Save campaign

FDH bank has launched FDH Digi-Save Campaign in its quest to encourage people to embrace the culture of saving and FDH Mobile’s “digital revolution”.

The promotion runs for three months from May 25 to August 25 this year and has, on offer, a grand prize of K1 million.

There are also monthly draws, which will see one person walking away with K500,000, three people winning smart phones, 10 customers getting cash prizes of K50,000, with 20 lucky customers winning FDH Mobile branded T-shirts.
