“Our expectation is that the university will use these resources for the intended purpose. Our second expectation is that the facilities that will be constructed will be utilized to enhance the teaching and learning environment,” he said.
FDH donates to Luarnar
FDH Bank has donated MK20 million to the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) for construction of a Multipurpose hall at the college.
The university needs at least K180 million for the project.
Making the donation, FDH Chief Executive Officer, Thomson Mpinganjira, said the bank decided to help the Luanar as it is a key component in the development of Malawi’s agricultural sector.
On his part, Chairman of Luanar Council James Seyani commended the support, saying the donation is in line with the university’s policy of increasing access to education.
“Currently, Bunda campus alone has a population of 4,500. NRC campus has about 2,500 just to mention a few. While we have the basic and learning infrastructure, it has now become inadequate with the increasing number of students. The construction of the hall will definitely ease this problem," he explained.
Chief Education Officer for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, Rose Kalizang’oma, also commended FDH for the support.
So far, the University has already raised K80 million for the project.
